A revolutionary educational facility, redefining academic innovation with immersive virtual reality technology.
Paris (France), 11 February 2025 – ST Engineering Antycip (Antycip) in collaboration with its local partner Aliant has successfully delivered a Romania’s first Virtual Reality Immersion Laboratory to the prestigious Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacău. This cutting-edge facility represents a landmark achievement in Romania’s academic and technological landscape, helping to reshape the future of education and research.
Antycip, with the invaluable support of its trusted partner Aliant, has delivered a state-of-the-art facility that sets a new benchmark for immersive learning in Romania. By enabling immersive, interactive learning experiences across multiple disciplines, the laboratory bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, empowering students and educators to explore new frontiers in teaching, learning, and research.
The immersive CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment), a 3.0 x 3.5 x 2.2-metre interactive cube, is equipped with advanced projectors powered by Barco, high-quality virtual reality headsets, and an advanced sound system to ensure full sensory engagement. This setup simultaneously accommodates multiple users, fostering collaborative and dynamic learning experiences.
The Virtual Reality Immersion Laboratory promises transformative impacts across a variety of academic and professional fields. In engineering and virtual manufacturing, it enabled the simulation of production processes, virtual prototyping, and design optimisation. In medicine, it facilitates surgical training, anatomical studies, and realistic simulations, enhancing the way medical professionals are trained.
For architecture and urban planning, the laboratory offers visualisation of construction projects and creating interactive design scenarios. Social sciences benefit from the ability to simulate historical events and conduct human behavioural studies, while training and ergonomics are improved through workplace posture analysis, industrial training and scenario-based learning.
The laboratory’s initial focus is on training faculty members to create engaging, interactive lessons and pedagogical tools. By visualising abstract concepts and simulating complex processes, this immersive technology will bridge gaps between theoretical knowledge and practical understanding, setting a new standard for education and research.
“The Virtual Reality Immersion Laboratory highlights the power of collaboration and shared vision in driving educational innovation,” said Relu Chelmus, business development manager at Aliant. "By integrating advanced technology into academia, we open new horizons for both students and educators."
“This partnership reaffirms our commitment to advancing immersive technologies and enabling institutions to explore new possibilities in education and research,” said John Mould, commercial sales manager at Antycip. “The success of this project reflects the outstanding contributions of our collaborators, including ART, Barco, VDL, and SkyReal, who have played pivotal roles in bringing this visionary facility to life.”
