Dresden, Germany, 13 August 2024 - Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), a joint venture of ST Engineering and Airbus, today announced that it has received the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) approval from the Federal Aviation Office of Germany. With this approval, EFW can now offer worldwide airworthiness management and technical services for all passenger and freighter aircraft to aircraft lessors, owners and operators.
EFW’s airworthiness management services are backed by in-depth technical know-how on aircraft systems, structures and regulatory requirements. Such expertise was honed at EFW through decades of experience in the conversion of passenger-to-freighter (P2F) aircraft for their global customers.
Beyond EFW CAMO assuming overall responsibility of keeping the aircraft airworthy, aircraft owners and operators can enjoy an efficient airworthiness review process for import, export, and re-registration of passenger and freighter aircraft as well as credible, fast and cost-efficient aircraft registration for aircraft lease transitions. Such enhanced support will provide customers with greater convenience and operational uptime.
The CAMO approval also complements EFW’s other solutions in aircraft design, production and maintenance. As the only freighter conversion provider in the world to hold the CAMO approval together with three other major aviation technical approvals, namely Part 145 Approval, Design Organisation Approval and Production Organisation Approval certifications, EFW is well placed to offer turnkey solutions in design development, freighter conversion, maintenance, aviation supply chain management and CAMO support under one roof.
As part of the CAMO approval, EFW also received the additional Airworthiness Review privilege for Airbus widebody and single-aisle aircraft from the Federal Aviation Office of Germany. The attainment of these privileges allows EFW to conduct airworthiness reviews on Airbus aircraft, issue Airworthiness Review Certificates and support 'permit to fly' issuance for maintenance check flights and repositioning flights. For P2F conversion customers, this offers a unique benefit as they will be able to return their aircraft immediately to revenue service after conversion has been completed with a valid airworthiness certification.
