Q: What inspired you to pursue a career with ST Engineering?
After a decade in sales and business development roles in tech multinationals, I joined ST Engineering to be part of cutting-edge projects and innovations that shape our future. The tech industry offers endless possibilities for creating a better way of life, and ST Engineering is at the forefront of this.

Q: Tell us about an achievement you are most proud of.
Helping to secure new contracts with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority to modernise the nation’s public bus fleet was a memorable achievement. This intensive project involved months of meticulous preparation and proactive stakeholder engagement.

I was fortunate to have the invaluable support of my mentors – Brian, Hin Cheong, Kim Siah and Tedmond – who guided me and shared their perspectives on complex project negotiations, serving as reliable sounding boards for ideas and strategies. Their extensive experience helped me anticipate potential roadblocks and develop a winning tender proposal for the team. 

I've learnt that mentoring isn't just about imparting knowledge, but also cultivating my personal and professional growth and empowering me to strive for excellence. It permeates our team, promoting a culture of collaboration and shared learning.

Q: What challenges do you face at work and how do you overcome them?
We deal with complex project requirements, tight deadlines, multifaceted technical specifications, and regulatory frameworks. Effective stakeholder management, proactive communication, and prioritising tasks based on urgency and importance are key to overcoming these challenges. Breaking down large tasks into smaller steps helps maintain clarity and focus, allowing systematic progress tracking.

Q: How does your work solve real-world problems?
Our mobility solutions improve traffic and road management, public transportation, and parking facilities, making cities more efficient, accessible, and safer. Be it optimising traffic flow, enhancing public transit efficiency, or improving parking accessibility, our work addresses significant transportation challenges in urban areas.
