Singapore, 6 December 2023 – Maintaining its steadfast support for President’s Challenge, ST Engineering presented President Tharman Shanmugaratnam with a cheque of $525,000 on Tuesday, 5 December 2023. This amount was raised through its annual month-long employee wellness programme – ST Engineering MOVEment – where employees across its global network are encouraged to stay healthy, keep fit and do good. The Group pledged a dollar for every kilometre walked and ran, and every three kilometres cycled.
Specifically in Singapore, over 5,100 employees walked, ran and cycled more than 560,000 kilometres collectively, the equivalent of circling the earth 14 times! Together with additional donations from employees, this resulted in $525,000 raised for President’s Challenge 2023.
A strong supporter of President’s Challenge since 2000, ST Engineering has contributed more than $9 million to date to lift communities and empower lives.
The cheque presentation was held at the Science Centre Singapore, where ST Engineering had organised a “Science Fun Day!” community outreach initiative, in support of SG Cares Giving Week.
President Tharman Shanmugaratnam was the Guest-of-Honour at the event which saw the participation of about 100 children, aged between seven to 13, from charitable organisations Child at Street 11 and Life Community Services Society. Led by 140 employee volunteers, this initiative aimed to enrich the young minds by introducing them to basic science topics through engaging quizzes.
