Singapore, 15 October 2015 – Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) announced today that its electronics arm, Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) has secured about $370m worth of contracts in the third quarter (3Q) of 2015 for Rail Electronics & Intelligent Transportation, Satellite & Broadband Communications, as well as Advanced Electronics & Information Communications Technologies (ICT) solutions.
Rail Electronics & Intelligent Transportation
Rail Electronics & Intelligent Transportation contracts of about $52m were secured from local and overseas customers in Brazil, China, the Middle East, Taiwan, Thailand and US. These projects include deployment of Command, Control and Communications (C3) Systems, Platform Screen Doors, Automatic Fare Collection System, Passenger Information System (PIS) and Maintenance Management System as well as Intelligent Transport Platform and Development solutions and enhancements of Intelligent Transport System and Fleet Management System. In San Francisco, there was an award by Bombardier Transportation Canada Inc to install the PIS for 365 new cars for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit. These projects will be completed progressively till mid-2022.
Satellite & Broadband Communications
Contracts amounting to $74m were secured in the Satellite & Broadband Communications sector from government, telecom and enterprise users worldwide for the supply of satellite network equipment, earth stations and manpack terminals. These include a multi-million dollar contract from Globecomm Systems Inc for a wide array of Agilis satcom Radio Frequency (RF) products to support the requirements of a global multilateral organisation to upgrade its private communication network between field offices situation in hundreds of remote locations.
Our Area Surveillance and Intrusion Detection System, AgilFence, continues to secure new projects both locally and overseas and new orders received include a contract to implement perimeter protection for a transportation depot in the region.
Advanced Electronics & ICT Solutions
About $244m worth of Advanced Electronics & ICT contracts were clinched from both public and private sectors. Amongst these are contracts for Intelligent Security Management System and Operations as well as Maintenance Support, advanced communications and vehicle communications, sensor systems and services, automated metering solutions for government agencies and commercial businesses.
These contracts are not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.
