I2R also partnered local and overseas commercial companies to create new products and services for economic impact.  Prior to that, Shiang Long served in the Singapore Armed Forces for 23 years.  In his last appointment as Head of Joint Communications and Information Systems Department, and Chief Information Officer, he was responsible for the architecture, development and operations of IT systems for the digitisation of the SAF.  Shiang Long holds a Master in Business Administration from Cambridge University and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, as well as a Master Degree in Science (IT) from the National University of Singapore.
